Sierra RCD invites you to join the Southern Sierra Firewise Webinar: Considerations for Landscaping & Gardening on Tuesday, November 12, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. This regional webinar is hosted by county Firewise Coordinators from across the Southern Sierra region, in collaboration with the UC ANR Fire Network, the UC Master Gardener Program, and YSRCDC, with funding support from Listos California. Together with more than ten partner organizations, this event aims to strengthen wildfire preparedness and community resilience throughout Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, and Tulare counties.
The webinar will open with an overview of the Firewise USA® program, followed by a presentation on Firewise landscaping and gardening practices—including defensible space, ignition zones, plant selection, thoughtful placement, and ongoing maintenance for creating fire-resistant landscapes.
Participants will then join county-specific breakout sessions, where local organizations will present on local resources, programs, and success stories. Each session will include time for questions, discussion, and community connection to help residents identify local tools and contacts to advance Firewise goals in their own neighborhoods.
This is a valuable opportunity to learn from experts, connect with local partners, and gain practical tools to make your home and garden more firesafe.
